Rancho Santa Fe, a lovely census-designated area, is a mostly residential area located in San Diego, California. A stunning landscape, lush green trees, and beautiful homes; living in Rancho Santa Fe feels almost like living in a resort year-round. Located East between Encinitas and Del Mar, Rancho, which is four miles inland from the ocean with a higher altitude than other parts of San Diego, is situated between the mountains and the sea. It is located a mere twenty miles north of Downtown San Diego.
Rancho Santa Fe was developed in In the early 1900s when the Santa Fe Land Improvement company was developed, leading to the building of a dam and a plan to lay out roads and properties. It currently has a total area of 7.8 square miles and a popular of just over 3,000 people.
Because of the continuously warm and sunny weather, a large assort of recreational activities can be enjoyed year round: tennis, horseback riding, hiking and polo are some popular activities to take part in. The Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club as well is one of the most spectacular in the San Diego area, available only to homeowners residing in Rancho Santa Fe. It’s an eighteen hole 7035 yard designed by Max Vehr, a highly regarded golf course architect. There was even a pro-am held there by legendary Bing Crosby in 1937.
The community of Rancho Santa Fe is known to be warm and outgoing. And there are plenty of opportunities for the community to come together: A weekly farmers market every Sunday provides fresh produce, delicious prepared food, local music and a craft booth for kids. An annual 4th of July Parade & Picnic is full of activities. The local library is two blocks from the Village center and features monthly events.
The Rancho Santa Fe Plaza is designated for shopping and eating at wonderful restaurants. Trees line the open courtyard of the plaza. The buildings are adorned with Spanish tiles and the streets contain fountains and outdoor cafes. You can partake in weekly wine tastings or listen to live jazz music on Sunday nights. The plaza is charming and picturesque, perfect for an afternoon outing or a relaxing evening.
Rancho Santa Fe has a public Elementary and Middle School, which s ranked among the best in California. It is also within close range to both the University of San Diego as well as the University of California San Diego.
